Bio
Los Angeles based singer/songwriter/producer Jason Nott got his start at 15 years old touring as the guitarist of his high school punk band, Drive A. Throughout the mid 2000s, Drive A hit the road with the likes of The Used, Third Eye Blind, Papa Roach, & many more. After years of touring, their sophomore album landed on the billboard charts, coupled with a music video in heavy rotation on MTV. But at the height of their success, the band called it quits.
Jason divulges, “I felt very defeated after working for so many years to achieve success in the industry only to have it be over in a flash, I was ready to carve out my own path. Even if I failed, I would fail gracefully on my own terms.”
Fortunately, that wasn’t the case, he found more success after taking on a new role as singer & songwriter of Beachwood Coyotes. Their music landed placements on major TV shows like Shameless, Teen Mom, & more. The band also had a healthy schedule of touring for nearly 10 years until the pandemic hit. “I don’t mean to state the obvious but that changed everything. So I used it to my advantage and I wrote. A lot.”
Now after nearly two decades of writing and performing in various bands, Jason is venturing into exciting new territory as a solo artist while Beachwood are on hiatus, with music that is reminiscent of your favorite 90s pop rock bands. It's a step in a different direction than his previous work.
Jason’s new single “I Was Dating All My Friends” perfectly encapsulates teenage nostalgia while feeling fresh. It’s the kind of song that inspires the feeling one gets on a summer roadtrip with friends while windows are down and spirits are up. The track boasts upbeat tones, contrasted with lyrics about reclaiming one's self worth after suffering exhaustive relationships.
The song is the product of a collaboration between Los Angeles-based producers, Daniel Wonacott (Senses Fail, Finch) & Rich Zahniser (The Sound of Animals Fighting, The Hippos) of Prime Royal Studios.
“Songwriting can be a vulnerable process because I never want to hurt anyone's feelings, but at the same time, it can be cathartic to channel my darkest secrets into pop songs. I like that the track will make you dance but also brings about a lyrical depth that many of us can resonate with. It’s been an incredibly humbling journey into new territory. I feel like my debut as a solo artist has brought about the most raw version of me.”
